Hi, I'm Hannah. I pour candles and I like ducks.
Crazy Duck is my small candle business on the North Devon coast, built on a simple idea: candles can be beautiful and still make you smile.
Why ducks?
Because in a world of ordinary, somebody has to be a crazy duck.
My mum called my sister her "beautiful baby girl", which naturally left me as the ugly duckling, and so "Duckie" was born. What began as a family nickname soon became the face of everything I make, from the labels on the tins to the little yellow wax ducks in your burner.
Why Croyde?
This stretch of coast is home. The beaches, the surf, the clifftop walks and the long summer evenings are what I wanted to bottle up, so every scent is named after a spot close to here: Woolacombe, The Point, The Bay, Saunton Sands, Oysters and Baggy Point.
Poured by hand, in small batches
Every candle is hand-poured in 100% soy wax, in small batches, and finished in a matte black tin. The wax melts are poured into little duck moulds, a tray at a time. Personalised lids are laser-engraved to order.
